FlashCards

Studying for a test? Time for a pop-quiz? Just type in your questions and answers, and Kid Create will automatically make an interactive flashcard quiz! As you take the quiz, Kid Create will track your answers to see how you score. When you're finished, you'll see how you did.

Detailed Reports
Each time a Flashcard Quiz is finished, a detailed report and chart will be shown - along with a summary of the questions and correct answers. Just like a stoplight, green=correct, red=wrong...it can't get any easier than this. These reports also provide you (The parent) with valuable information, and can help you recognize problem-areas in your child's study habits.

Music

We've also included an awesome virtual piano that lets your kids experiment with music; they can even change the instruments! Kid Create's piano is just like a real piano. You press the keys, and it makes a specific sound. But, our piano is special - it not only plays piano, but also many other instruments including a music box, vibraphone, organ, dulcimer, harpsichord, and tons of others! With a variety of musical instruments to play, your child will discover a wide-range of sounds and tones.

Of course, you can always limit the use of the piano in your parent settings to make sure that your kids focus on their work.

Cool Tip: You can also control the piano by pressing different keys on your computer's keyboard. With a little practice, you could be the next Mozart!

Games

All work and no play is...well...no fun! Sometimes, kids just need to play a game. Kid Create's Puzzle offers a fun way to play around, while tickling your brain. Of course, you can always limit the use of the games in your parent settings to make sure that your kids focus on their work.

Although it might just look like fun and games, the Kid Create slide-puzzle is a great way to introduce strategy and logical thinking to your children. The object of the game is to arrange the numbers in order, from 1 to 15. Each number can be slided into the empty spot. Each time you play, the game will be different.

Notes

Notes are a great way for kids to get organized, remember facts, and stay on top of things. Kid Create helps fill this need with its "Notes" section - resembling a familiar "sticky note" style. Your children can easily make an unlimited number of notes (And delete them too). All in a nicely organized interface.

Calculator

Just like the real thing, Kid Create's calculator helps your children add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Our cool virtual calculator is a valuable tool for children of any age. Besides being a helpful tool, calculators offer children the ability to test basic math principles (Such as 2+2), and see the instant result.

Of course, just like the other tools in Kid Create, you (The parent) can easily disable the calculator if needed...A handy feature during homework assignments in which calculators aren't allowed.

Dictionary

Filtered Definitions = Safe
To be extra-safe, our dictionary is filtered, and won't allow your children to lookup inappropriate words or bad language. If a known bad word is entered, a message will be shown, and the definition will not be displayed.

It's The Small Things That Count
While the main features of Kid Create are the tools your child will use most (Writing, Drawing, Painting, Flashcards), there are tons of other neat things too. This includes a clock, calendar, and visually stimulating "Magna-Glass" to magnify any part of the screen.

Handy Handwriting
Learning to write is one of the most-essential skills your child will ever learn. While typing on the keyboard is obviously a very useful skill too, nothing compares to writing by hand. So, we made sure to include support for the Macintosh's built-in handwriting recognition. This exciting technology will automatically recognize the text you write, and convert it into typed text! The only thing you need to take advantage of this is a small computer accessory called a "Pen Tablet", which is like a virtual pen and paper. Together, the Macintosh and Kid Create are a match made in heaven.

This feature is not a requirement, but it is available to any user that does have a "Pen Tablet". If you don't yet have one, you can purchase a tablet separately for under $100.

By keeping your data, and your children's data separate, Kid Create ensures that your data stays safe and away from your child's access. Kid Create is fully aware that if you have more than one child, you may want to keep each of their projects separate. It's easy to install Kid Create on a multi-user system (Especially useful in schools). This software will recognize each of your computer user's accounts, and treat them as separate kids.

What Can Parents Customize?
Tons of things! We realize that every family has different values, age-restrictions, and other ways of letting their children view information. Kid Create is very flexible, and can be setup to fit into almost any situation you can think of. Easily turn off specific features such as...just the "Games". This would allow your child to use any part of Kid Create, except for the games. As you can see, the possibilities are fairly endless, and will grow with your needs as your child gets older.

This is especially handy when your children need to focus on a project such as a book report. In this example, we would probably want to disable everything except for the "Writing" section, and possibly the "Dictionary". The Parent Settings are very easy and straightforward to use, but just in case - we have a full instruction manual available.

Can't Children Just Quit Kid Create?
No. Just as Kid Create requires your personal "Parent Password" to gain access to its parent settings, your password is also required to quit the software. This means that your children cannot quit Kid Create until you (The parent) allow them to. There's even an option to have Kid Create open automatically when your computer starts, so even if your child unplugs your computer, when it starts - Kid Create will be waiting.

Resilient Kid Note: Just in case you're wondering, Kid Create uses very low-level programming techniques that directly disable our software from being quit, force-quit, or process-switched.
